Location : Belfast | Client : Gilbert Ash

Regarded as one of the most iconic buildings of the Belfast City skyline. PHD were tasked with providing the access requirements to install the high level dutch architectural steel work and glazing of the massive 35 metre diameter domed roof.

Keeping to the programme and to minimise interference with works being carried out at lower levels, the scaffold could not be erected from ground level and hence was sprung from a steel platform known as a ‘lily-pad’. The ‘lily-pad’ which was 3m x 4.5m was fixed 31.5 m off ground-level and supported by 3 structural steel columns. This was engineered by highly skilled and experienced scaffolders working at height.
